Going Deeper… (Psalm 24)

Here are some questions based on last Sunday’s sermon text (Psalm 24), in case they’re helpful to you for personal growth or group discussion…

  • [1-2] “The earth is Yahweh’s and the fullness thereof…” Have you had an experience in nature where you just knew God was real, and that he had created all this? What was that like?
  • (Read Philippians 2:9-11.) If “the world and those who dwell therein” belong to Yahweh, because he made it all, what does that say about people who refuse to acknowledge his Lordship? What do you imagine it will be like, one day, when all people must acknowledge his Lordship?
  • [3-6] Is there anyone who has clean hands and a pure heart, who really belongs in God’s presence, whom we might trust to carry us into his presence for our blessing? Do you feel like you have to be the one to clean your hands and purify your heart enough to be able to dwell in God’s presence?
  • To “seek the face of the God of Jacob” is to seek the face of the God Jacob didn’t recognize at first (he was just the guy throwing the wrestling match). This God is unrecognizable to us at first. Why do we not recognize Jesus to be the King of glory (7-10), or recognize his particular kind of glory? What is his particular kind of glory?
  • [7-10] What are some ways God has worked in your life but you didn’t recognize him? When did you recognize Jesus at work in your life for the first time? What are some ways you need to open the gates of your life and let the King of glory come in?
