Here are some questions based on last Sunday’s sermon text (John 12:44-50), in case they’re helpful to you for personal growth or group discussion…
- [46] What does Jesus mean by contrasting “darkness” with himself as “light”? Why do people choose to remain in what he calls darkness? What is the significance of this for your relationship with God?
- [47] Jesus came “to save the world.” What does the world need to be saved from? How does Jesus save the world? What does he save the world for? Why is it crucial to understand and accept this? What’s your personal response to Jesus’ salvation?
- [44-45, 50] Jesus uniquely and perfectly echoes and reflects the Father to us. Do you believe this, or do you have inner doubts, suspecting that God is really different from what we see in Jesus? What does that matter? What difference does it make in your life?
- Even though Jesus uniquely echoes his Father, can you also echo the Father? What would that look like? Would that be interesting to you?
