Here are some questions based on last Sunday’s sermon text (John 10:22-42), in case they’re helpful to you for personal growth or group discussion…

• [24-26] Unbelievers often suggest that their opposition to Jesus would stop if their intellectual questions were satisfied, if they were able to reconcile biblical claims with perceived facts. But the evidence about Jesus is clear, and Jesus calls resistance what it is: a relational problem. How does Jesus describe this problem? Do you have this kind of problem with Jesus? Why would this problem cause us to resist the clear evidence that Jesus is who he says he is?

• [28] What does Jesus mean by “eternal life”? Where are some other places the Bible talks about such things?

• Jesus says we come by eternal life as a gift, and that we are quite secure in his and the Father’s hands. Is that how you usually feel about your salvation? In what ways might you be tempted to think/feel/act like salvation is not a gift already freely given? How does being assured of the gift of salvation change the way you think/feel/act?

• [30, 35, 38] Jesus affirms that the unbreakable Scripture declares God’s people to be “gods” (35), and teaches what it means for him to be God: to be one with the Father (30) in a relationship characterized by mutual indwelling (38). Compare/contrast his being God with our being called “gods.” Why is Jesus telling us this stuff?
