Here are some questions based on last Sunday’s sermon text (2 Samuel 1:17-27), in case they’re helpful to you for personal growth or group discussion…
- [18] Here, and in the Psalms, David teaches God’s people to sing about life. Singing our laments is something more, something deeper than just recounting bad things that happened. Why is it good for Christians to sing our sadness? What is unique about Christian laments, as distinct from other “sad songs”? Can you think of any laments we sing in worship together?
- [20] It’s hard to bear the thought of our enemies rejoicing in victory over us. In what ways do Christ’s enemies gloat in supposed victory over Christ and his church? Are they right to celebrate? How does the Gospel shape your internal response to Christ’s enemies? How does it inform the way you interact with Christ’s enemies?
