Greetings! Here are some Ascension announcements…
Pub Night
Join us at 7pm tonight (May 3) at
Lil' Cooperstown. Invite a friend!
Sunday Refreshments
Sign up here to bring refreshments for our fellowship time after worship.
Resurrection Series
For the Easter season we're talking about the significance of the Resurrection, which stands at the core of the Christian faith. This week:
1 Corinthians 15:1-8.
First Sunday
During worship this Sunday (May 6) we’ll collect a Diaconal offering. May’s offering will be gifted to the Janssens, our missionaries in Taiwan, who are back in the States for a few months caring for Faith’s mother who has cancer. Please write “Janssen” in the memo line of any checks you want to designate toward this gift. After the service we’ll collect and pack items for Hope Kits for Medical Teams International.
Forthcoming Photo Directory
If you have updated contact information, or want to be included in the photo directory for the first time,
email me! We'll be taking pictures over the next couple weeks…
Faire in the Grove
This Sunday after worship would be a good time to head over to the
Faire in the Grove, held at the
Grand Lodge in Forest Grove. Admission is free. It's a small, medieval fair with costumes, combat demonstrations, music, and "shopping opportunities." There is food and drink for sale, or consider a picnic. It's open 10am to 4pm Sunday (and Saturday to 6pm).
Ladies' Coffee Night
7pm Fri., May 11 at Ava Roasteria (Progress Ridge) • Contact: Melissa Barnes
Ryerson Move
Nathanael, Suzanne and children are moving into a new home on Sat., May 12, and would greatly appreciate help with the process! Starting around 9am they’ll load up at their old place (1278 SE Bianca St., Hillsboro), and then drive to the new place (17645 NW Sue Ct., Beaverton). They’ll provide a pizza lunch at the new house between loading and unloading. Contact: Suzanne (sooozanne@gmail.com, 503-473-2701).
Update on Mischa Schnathorst
Below is an email from Demmari, dated April 28:
We are trying to return to a more normal life. Learning about cancer, carefully taking care of Mischa, and going through several weeks of chemo has been all-consuming. If I haven’t returned your e-mail just know that I appreciate your support and encouragement very much.
Mischa is doing well. She has been taking lots of naps this week, but when she is awake she is up and playing with her brother and sister. She loves visits from friends and hopes to get back to school again next week. We received final bone marrow test results over a week ago. I wanted to make sure everyone heard that they did not find any cancer in her bone marrow anymore. Praise God!
We have been to the ER twice this month for fever. Fortunately, her white blood count was good at both visits so we were able to return home (just before midnight) after IV antibiotics. Her white count is currently low and will be low for the next few weeks due to heavy chemo so it is important that she doesn’t get a fever or she will have to be hospitalized until better.
Her red blood count was low this week, but her body was able to maintain/rebuild within a few days so we were able to avoid our first possible blood transfusion.
They say her hair should be falling out this month, but it has not started. In fact, I think it is getting a bit thicker. I’m enjoying it while it lasts and I picked up a few beautiful hats for her today.
Prayer Requests:
Continued Healing
No fevers/ER visits
Praise:
In remission
Strong little girl with an amazing attitude
